From what I acquire from this piece, it resembles emotional agony. The deepness of the red is perfect for this emotion. The markings on the creature can be relatable to the scars the creature received. I can personally relate to this painting, since I go through many emotional trials. With each time, I feel like I'm losing parts of myself and stepping into the pool of numbness. A place to simply forget myself and all the things around me. I'm not sure if that's what the artist intended, but this is what I take from this beautiful composition.
